All steps by RL Sanborn Masonry are built on site with the highest standards of
    craftsmanship & attention to detail.

RL Sanborn Masonry steps and stairs are custom built, starting with excavation, a stone sub
base, a steel reinforced poured concrete footing and a steel reinforced poured concrete core
structure. The steps or stairs are then finished with brick veneer, stone veneer  or concrete finish
    coatings.

There is a major difference between our solid core, steel reinforced steps and the common
    concrete block structure steps.
By first appearance, block structure stairs, with  veneer finishes,  look about the same as solid
core, steel reinforced stairs. The difference is that block steps, set on sod then finished with
masonry veneer, simply will not last. The block will disintegrate rapidly, due to the moisture
sealed environment. As a result of settling, the mortar joints and veneers will begin to crack.

RL Sanborn Masonry builds solid core, steel reinforced steps that will withstand frost and
moisture. Solid core, steel reinforced steps last much longer because moisture does not
penetrate the central core structure. The steel reinforcement  is installed, before the solid core
structure is poured. Steel reinforcement is what gives concrete strength and durability. Installing
a footing, prior to construction, is crucial to the longevity of the stairs.

Another  benefit of solid core, steel reinforced steps is that they can be restored in the future at a
much lower cost than having to replace failed block structure steps. We know, because we
replace so many block structure steps.

RL Sanborn Masonry is prepared to earn your business with courteous professional steps
and stairs installation services. No dream is impossible.

What is masonry?

Masonry is the building
of structures from
individual units laid in
and bound together by
mortar. The common
materials of masonry
construction are brick,
stone such as marble,
granite, travertine,
limestone; concrete
block, glass block, and
tile. Masonry is
generally a highly
durable form of
construction. However,
the materials used, the
quality of the mortar and
workmanship, and the
pattern the units are put
in can strongly affect the
durability of the overall
masonry construction
